Meet Victoria.
Victoria joined The Hunger Project 15 years ago and has participated in a number of programs. Victoria says she particularly enjoyed attending the Epicenter’s nursing and teacher training workshops, and Women’s Empowerment Program. Victoria is also a shareholder with the Atubikrom Epicenter’s (Ghana) Microfinance Program.
Prior to attending the Microfinance program, she says she did not much about business, but since attending The Hunger Project’s workshops, she has done very well at marketing her business.
With her savings, Victoria invested in her shop. Her shop primarily buys and sells maize. Her main goal is to provide financial support for her four children’s health and education.
The workshops have resulted not only in income generation for Victoria, but they have also helped her relationship with her husband.
Victoria says both she, and the other women in her community, are empowered by their better understanding of their rights. Her vision is to continue supporting her children, as well as continuing to grow the Microfinance Program capital at the Atuobikrom Epicenter by reaching out to more communities.
