Director of Fundraising.

The Following Vision, Mission and Pillars for the Youth Council are a direct response to The Hunger Projects Vision, Mission and Principles whereby creating a program to activate them and build global citizenship for individuals under 40.

Vision.

The Hunger Project Canada Youth Council aims to create a more equitable and just global food system by embracing a unified and multifaceted perspective.

Purpose.

Propel a rising generation to deepen The Hunger Project’s work in ending hunger through fostering knowledge-sharing, understanding, and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth throughout Turtle Island/Canada. Through this non-colonial process, we will delve into leadership development, community activism, and impact to leave a legacy for future generations.

Education and Training

By educating and training our community members on core issues of global hunger and the understanding that we can only end hunger through a holistic and non-colonial approach , we equip individuals with the skills to become advocates for The Hunger Project and to catalyze large-scale systemic change.

We understand that it is our collective responsibility to stand united in a shared commitment to end hunger and poverty in our world. Through community mobilization and activism, we create a new generation of transformational leaders who take creative local and global action for social change.

We are determined to ensure all of our efforts contribute to sustainable, positive, measurable and lasting change in our community members individually and toward the end of chronic and persistent hunger.

Director of Fundraising

  • Propel a rising generation to deepen The Hunger Project’s work in ending hunger through fostering knowledge-sharing, understanding, and reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth throughout Turtle Island/Canada. Through this non-colonial process, we will delve into leadership development, community activism, and impact (fundraising) to leave a legacy for future generations.

  • The Director of Fundraising formulates budgets and procedures to support THP-Canada, identifies new donor bases, coordinates solicitation of funds and oversees the overall fundraising strategy as directed by the Council. This role will work in close collaboration with their volunteer teams to provide necessary vision, leadership, and fundraising skills to allow THP-C to achieve its fundraising goals . In this position, the director will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective supporter journeys for the development of relationships and retention, and generating ideas that support identification of new income streams and fundraising strategies commissioned by the Council, while ensuring that all branding and marketing materials aligns with THPCs branding guidelines.

  • Reports to: President and fellow executive team.

    Time commitment: average 4 hours a week, increased hours close to and attendance at events.

    Term: 1 year

    • Check ins will be offered and available to support success in the position

    Training:

    • Orientation to The Hunger Project Canada

    • Relevant THPC specific systems and processes training as needed

    • Fundraising training relevant to the position

    • Opportunities to attend decolonization workshops

  • • In cooperation with the Director of Marketing and Programs, lead the development of any long-term strategy to achieve organizational goals

    • Researches corporations and foundations and identifies opportunities for sponsorship

    • Lead the fundraising programs which includes recruitment and development of new donors

    • Demonstrates an understanding of the link between one’s job responsibilities and the organizational goals.

  • • Possesses strong leadership and relationship building skills

    • Excellent self-management, organizational and communication skills

    • Able to work independently, on a team and participate actively in a remote team setting

    • ​​A proactive and positive team player who acts with a sense of urgency and leads by example

    • Committed, reliable, and interested in ending chronic hunger

    • Working knowledge in G-Suite

    • Demonstrates a resolute commitment to and respect for the spirit behind the rules and core values of the organization, setting an example of professionalism and ethical propriety.
